Wow! do you bring back the memories.

It was the late 60's and I had just got out of the service. My parents lived in Tigard so I settled in with them for a time. There was this tavern in NW Portland called the 10 til 2 that had a cheeseburger that was about 6 inches tall, it had everything in it, including a fried egg and bacon. They had a deal if you could eat two of them and drink a pitcher of beer in an hr it was free. One night I took the challenge and was successful(did not feel so good afterwards)My friends imm. said they wanted to take me to the Country Kitchen to see if I could do the same thing there. We went one night, I took one look at what it entailed and said no way! There was a picture on the wall of a Catholic Priest who regularly came in, and ate it just for drill. He was not a big man either. I always wondered if the Country Kitchen was still there. Thanks!

Wow! I didn't know that about the burger place! I am flying out there Sept 9th and may see if it's still there! I like the restaurants up around Government Camp, too (Log Cabin). That area has changed immensely.

I didn't know the Country Kitchen had been there that long.
