Something you probably didn't read in the mainstream (inter)national press (heh):

"In terms of what kind of economic system they wish to establish, as you point out, the Ba'athist Party was a socialist party. I think it's very hard to imagine any strong support in this country for a return to that economic system, which has left the country really flat on its back, and which does not really provide a model for getting the kind of vibrant private sector which I think most Iraqis now realize is a sine qua non for a stable economy and stable economic growth. So if they choose socialism, that will be their business. My guess is that's not going to happen." ~ Amb. Paul Bremer  - Briefing on Coalition Post-war Reconstruction and Stabilization Efforts, 6/12.

All dictatorships are Socialist in nature. For the elite ruling class anyway.

Awesome "straight from the horse's mouth" post!!!! Thanks, Ex-Dem!
Thanks so much for the ping, RC!

"What's important to me is that my country knows the good we did for (Iraq). You see stuff every day on TV. What they don't hear is the progress we've made over there."

And posts such as this are a perfect way to get the word out. A definite mass e-mailer!

Next time you listen a speech by Kerry or by any former military person who is a Liberal, remember that they are heroes only when in uniform and not after. When the shooting stops or when they leave the service, they turn against the military. They defund the servicxs, they social engineer the services, and they use the military but do not replenish it, etc.

You quit too soon. The Northwest Indiana Times' reporter wrote those words. It's rare enough to find a reporter who respects the military. Silent hummingbirds is hardly that offensive.

This Marine's account is worth reading.

Imho.

"We didn't go over there to kill people," he said, but to oust former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. "Every chance to walk away, we gave it."

That's what make our military the greatest in the world!

I would love for this story to be picked up by the major press. Pfc. Jacob Cristea's story, and others like his, need to get some big media time.

Ninety-five percent of the population in Iraq, in my experience with the locals -- they had nothing but good to say about us.
