Pressure's on Senator to Drop Out of Race, but Why Should He?

McClintock has a loud public address system to expound the tax-and-spend causes he always has cared deeply about. At least he has since, as a high school freshman, he came home one day and found his Realtor-mom in tears because she'd miscalculated her tax and was about to forfeit to the IRS a year's savings from commissions.

He has never voted for a tax increase. Indeed, he was one of a group of Assembly Republican "cavemen" whom then-Gov. Pete Wilson called "irrelevant" - modified by an obscenity - for refusing to consider a tax hike in budget bargaining.

What McClintock does say is that "I'm definitely a very strong gravitational pull on Arnold's political philosophy" - pulling it to the right. But, he adds, "I'm very concerned about the direction he would take California, given his [former Wilson] advisors and his reluctance to forthrightly answer simple questions about simple policies."

Before anybody asks McClintock to step aside, Schwarzenegger should prove he can run without stumbling.

That would be a bad idea. The reason FR can only use excerpts is because the Slimes claimed that using full-length articles gave surfers options other than going through its website.

After a long legal battle, a judge left FR intact as long as only excerpts from the Times and the Washed-up Post were used. The Times wanted to destroy FR. Posting passwords to avoid registration would be an invitation to another suit.

The Los Angeles Times' liberal Sacramento bureau chief George 'Slumberin' Skelton makes some very good points. Tom paid his dues. When did Arnold? And why won't Arnold tell people about the issues at stake in this recall election? If Arnold can run an election without facing a "bimbo" eruption once a week and get the backing of most of party, Tom won't put his personal ego above the good of the party. But it's a little early to ask Tom to withdraw. He's a serious and thoughtful candidate and the voters deserve to hear whether they'd like to have what he proposes to do as Governor. And if it helps make Arnold more of a committed Republican, its an added bonus. For all of the above reasons, yes Tom should stay in the race. The chattering classes counted out Tim Pawlenty too. I have feeling that for Tom its a good place to be in cause Americans have always loved an underdog. So watch out for this guy.

Tim Pawlenty was the odd man out in a three man race. People sure aren't laughing now. I really really hope Tom gets skewered, ridiculed, laughed off, and dismissed. He needs to works under the radar like Bill Simon did last year. California is a land of miracles. Arnold and Large Breasts take the voters for granted, thinking they have this election in the bag. Au contraire.
