May the knife keep on twisting in the heart of the BBC.

Schadenfreude

This is the New York Times BBC Schadenfreude Ping List. Freepmail me to be added or dropped.

This is the nascent Mainstream Media Shenanigans ping list. Please freepmail me to be added or dropped.
Please note this will likely become a high-volume list.
Also feel free to ping me if you come across a thread you would think worthy of the ping list. I can't catch them all!

The BBC has been dishonestly distorting the news for a long while, pushed the envelope too far and finally got caught...

What is that saying, pride goeth before the fall? ;-)

The NY Slimes reports trouble in the BBC? Oh, the irony is palatable...

The BBC, the world's largest and best known public service broadcaster, sends out millions of words daily, but its long-nurtured reputation for accuracy, fairness and objectivity is being challenged for just 20 of them.

Despite this poetic opener, I think it's somewhat disingenuous to obliquely suggest that the quantity of words, rather than the slanderous message they contained, means diddly squat in this case.

For an article about dishonest reporting, this is a very rocky start.

The BBC seems to think that newsmaking is a creative process solely owned by them to be used to propagate their very individual brand of worldview. Their targets are the British establishment, Israel and lately, anyone else who doesn't support their leftward bias, notably the USA.

In my opinion, this article is typical of much of the NYT reporting on this scandal. The facts are obscured by the rhetoric. The NYT is so interested in making the BBC look good, you can barely discern the fact from this story that the BBC distorted the truth about Blair.

If this story were about the Republican party distorting the facts, that would be abundantly clear.

Sorry, BBC, but this whining about the "20 words" doesn't move me to anything except laughter. Considering the near-persecution for the Bush speech (16 words), which, in fact was true, I have NO sympathy for the BBC's "20 words" which were most certainly NOT true.

Dang, these people have nerve. I hope this scandal finishes them off.

The BBC's bias was apparent back when this same Gilligan did his "The Americans are lying about the taking of Baghdad Airport" back in April.

And let's not kid ourselves. David Kelly knew Gilligan's agenda, as he was just as aware of this type of reporting and bias before he started whispering in Gilligan's ear.

Let this be a lesson to the NYTimes.....but they are way too arrogant to heed it.
