Media Omission
Posted on 08/30/2003 3:04:34 PM PDT by annyokie
This is an interesting bit of information that you don't hear much about in the media --- Certainly there is a political dimension here:
a.. Enron's chairman did meet with the president and the vice president in the Oval Office.
b.. Enron gave $420,000 to the president's party over three years.
c.. It donated $100,000 to the president's inauguration festivities.
d.. The Enron chairman stayed at the White House 11 times.
e.. The corporation had access to the administration at its highest levels and even enlisted the Commerce and State Departments to grease deals for it.
f.. The taxpayer-supported Export-Import Bank subsidized Enron for more than $600 million in just one transaction. Scandalous!!
g.. BUT...the president under whom all this happened WASN'T George W. Bush.
h.. SURP RISE ......... It was Bill Clinton!

Not that I doubt you, but do you have a citable source? It would be helpful in discussions the other side.

This can be found on Snopes.com and they report it as being false.

Snopes has been wrong before and seem to take particular delight in undermining Republicans. IMO

There was an article posted on WorldNet Daily (I believe) that discussed the political leanings of Snopes.com owners' and how they have treated some stories that were negative on dimocRATs and the left. It was interesting.

Snopes has been wrong before and seem to take particular delight in undermining Republicans. IMOI think you may be right. I read the article accompanying this and it is just down right nasty to Bush. While denying few of the claims in this article it mostly say even if it is right Bush and the GOP were worse than Clinton.
Annyokie, I am sorry for posting this and I do hope that it will not kill your thread. If you want I could get Admin to delete it.

It was "reported" as false by what seems to be a DNC operative intent on ignoring the Clinton connections ...
After quoting the statement it says: "Those numbers, even if accurate, don't come close to matching what has been reported about Enron's contributions to George W. Bush and the Republican party, ..."
Uh excuse me, even "IF ACCURATE"??!? Snopes cant call something false unless they are showing it is not accurate.

Let's pretend to be democrats for a while and spread this around.

Wait! Wait!

Thanks for the enterprise. I may offer the suggestion that posting a recent article such as the following
http://newsmax.com/archives/articles/2003/8/21/173923.shtml
and then adding your comments would solve the sourcing problem. I believe the article contains the information you posted and much more.
I searched google news section for, Enron Clinton, there were hundreds of recent stories about this -- not all of them unfriendly to BJ but there were plenty to choose from to get the truth out.
. Thanks again
