The two towers of Saruman and Sauron (where everyone in the Lord of the Rings trilogy is converging) don't bear television antennas.

Get it right! They converge in Mordor in The Return Of The King. I'll bet this guy never read the books. Sheeesh. /disgust

Actually, only Sam, Frodo, and Smeagol converge upon Mordor - and even that isn't on the tower of Minas Morgul(the "tower" of mordor).

The other tower (in the "Two Towers") refers to Orthanc (Saruman's digs) - but of course most of the action in ROTK takes place at Minas Tireth.

BTW, I suppose you can go with the Palantíri (stones of seeing) to hock communication equipment!

The author's conclusion: "brash capitalism" <> "purity and goodness".

Stupid socialist.

The thoroughness of Tolkien in providing not just a story, but the complete mythologies, political histories, languages, and familial ties of a whole world has to be the greatest work of pure fiction (not necessarily the best - but most detailed) ever created.

"Stupid socialist."

You got it right, IMO.

If this dummy, Persall, the writer, is blaming capitalism for "progress," he ought to take note that it is the socialists who try to disguise themselves with the label of "progressives."
