On the 9th of September, by oldest son was married in Minneapolis. We flew home to Florida on the morning of the 10th. My son and his new wife were to fly to San Francisco on the morning of the 11th at the time of the attacks. We were concerned until he finally called, stuck at the airport. We have found that in our circle of friends and aquaintances, that we are one or two people away from someone who died in the attacks. My youngest son was on a delayed entry to the Army at the time and has since go on and is presently deployed in Mosul, Iraq. He was part of the unit that killed the Hussein brothers.

Even if I wanted to, I couldn't forget September 11. We as a family and we as a nation are still involved in it. Victory is an inadequate salve, but it is the only one we have. Damn the islamist and damn those who support them, here and abroad.

"We have found that in our circle of friends and aquaintances, that we are one or two people away from someone who died in the attacks."

Yes, this is true in my case also. Several people I work with knew people who died in the Trade Center, including the nephew of one of my bosses. Hubby and I are originally from New York, in fact my mother worked in the Trade Center when it first opened (Thank God she didn't live to see 9/11) and I remember saying to my him on the 13th that we were lucky we hadn't spent the previous day hearing from long lost friends calling to tell us that other even longer lost ones had been killed.

"My youngest son was...part of the unit that killed the Hussein brothers."

May God bless him and keep him. I'm glad they're kicking some serious b*tt over there.

Continued good wishes to you and your family. You are right that victory is an inadequate salve, but I hope we shall have it by the bucketful.
