From reading this thread, one "source" I recomend is a study of the deaths attributed to Hitler/Stalin.

You underestimate the Stalinist death toll.

One Russian Historian (author of "The Time of Stalin") pegged it closer to 100 million, including the victims of the gulag (over 10 million there alone), famines (in particular the Ukrainian forced famine, which Stalin engineered to kill off the Ukrainian kulaks - sort of analogous to how Zimbabwe's dictator is destroying his country, but far more brutal and intentional), and the various wars that Stalin used up millions of human lives on (20 million in WWII alone). Given all this, even large scale purges like his killing of thousands of army officers in 1937 is just a blip on the radar screen.

Stalin was easily a far more deadly character than Hitler, the Holocaust notwithstanding.
