Hollywood-Hero – Commentary on Harrison Ford

Well, there they go again. Harrison Ford is the latest Hollywood star to attack the Bush Administration and the Iraq war on foreign soil. In Madrid to promote his latest release “Hollywood Homicide”, he uttered the following:

''I'm very disturbed about the direction American foreign policy is going,'' said Ford, with U.S. post-war casualties having exceeded those during the actual conflict.

''I think something needs to be done to help alleviate the conditions which have created a disenfranchised and angry faction in the Middle East.''

''I don't think military intervention is the correct solution. I regret what we as a country have done so far,'' said Ford.

On gun control: ''I'm very troubled by the proliferation of arms; at the fact so many people in the United States carry guns. It obviously contributes greatly to the crime problems we have. I'm sure gun laws should be strengthened in the United States. I just don't know the correct mechanism.''

This of course, from an actor who has starred in many films with a gun in his hand. Hollywood-Hero mentioned in an op-ed earlier this year in reference to Martin Sheen and his role as a fictional president on West Wing, how irritating it is that these people make fortunes acting in movies, portraying characters that are antithetical to their own belief systems. They seem to have no compunction to collect a big fat paycheck portraying a character whose political views are far from their own. Then they take the money and run to the nearest protest, or nearest microphone, or in Martin Sheen’s case the nearest jail cell, as he seems to relish getting arrested, and bash this country.

Has he always been such a moron, or did it start when he left his wife for Ms. Fishlips?

''I think something needs to be done..."

They can figure out that something needs to be done and they think they can pinpoint what ought not be done; they never have any concrete solutions, though. Get out of the way and let the leaders lead.

Here we have another erudite, elitist, Left-Wing, Trotskyite-Democrat, venting his spleen about all things bad.
As usual like, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Larry Hagman, Alec Baldwin, et. al. before him he chooses to bad mouth his country overseas in Europe. Why is it these "Morons" think their remarks are not going to get back to the Good Ole USA? Why don't these "Idiots" have the "BALLS" to say these Anti-American remarks here?
Poor Harrison Ford's career has pretty much hit the skids of late, his last few movies have been clunkers and he is now of that age when he should start looking for character roles or give in and do a tv sitcom or drama. I imagine that that there is a role he could get on ER if he wanted it. I guess he is hoping Indiana Jones IV will put him back on top, Hope Sean Connery is in it, he will steal the picture just like the last one.
These ignorant "Sluts" just need to keep their mouths shut and fade away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harrison is no Ford-that's just his screen name-he was born Harrison Yugo.

It has to give an Idiot an exaggerated opinion of self worth, when they are paid a million times more to pretend to be a real person than that person even comes close to being paid for actually bein themselves.

I don't buy movie tickets, I don't rent movies, I seldom watch a movie-the dumb sonovabitches don't get their wealth and power from me.

Who cares what this idiot has to say? How is it different from what any of the other self-important Hollywood whiners spew?

And to think I used to think he was so hot in the late 70s and all through the 80s.

YECCCHHHH.

I'm glad you revealed that to me, Harry. I used to believe the experts in foreign policy who've devoted their lives to the study of violent culture and the defense of our country. But now I am enlightened, thanks to you and others like you, like Garafolo and Sarandon and so forth, completely uninformed and inexperienced. You're changing the world man, one idiot at a time.

Harrison Ford? Isn't he that wasted, middle-aged gas-bag who is shacking up with that anorexic chick half his age? Why do we care what a loser like that thinks, about anything?

''I think something needs to be done to help alleviate the conditions which have created a disenfranchised and angry faction in the Middle East.''

Fool. Osama has already said that Al-Qaeda will engage in jihad until the whole world is ruled by a Muslim Caliph. Let Ford convert to Islam now, and he can skip all the hand wringing about conditions and disenfranchisement and root causes.

The rest of us will continue fighting a foe that cannot be appeased, until they are destroyed or we are.

Harrison Ford is a "noted conservationist" and is on the board of Conservation International.

Harrison Ford also is a pilot and owns a Bell 407 helicopter, a Gulfstream II, a Cessna 206, a de Havilland Beaver, an Aviat Husky A-1B, a Beechcraft Bonanza, a Cessna Grand Caravan and a Gulfstream IV.

When he is not using his helicopter to "look for polluters and other abusers of the Hudson [River] ecosystem," Ford says "I use my planes for transportation all the time. I fly on any impulse, any errand, or any opportunity I can."
(Source: The Van Nuys Journal (online) July 2003)

A Gulfstream IV tanks ~5,000 gallons of JetA and burns ~500 GPH; a Bell 407 burns 38 GPH; a Cessna 206, 14 GPH; the Cessna Grand Caravan uses 50 GPH from its 532 G tank.

I can't believe that this moron actually had the brains to be a carpenter. A wood butcher, yeah, but a REAL carpenter...no way. The stupidity is dripping out of his ears. Maybe he was a roofer or sheetrocker.

Who really cares what Harrison Ford thinks? There are some important people expressing knowledgeable thoughts and ideas. They deserve our attention, not those who are quoted simply because of name recognition from screen fame.

Ford hired a shyster to keep himself from being drafted as a CO during the Vietnam War. He's always been a horses a$$.

No. I confused them so badly that they never took action on my petition. My conscientious objection wasn't based on a history of religious affiliation, which made it difficult at that time. I went back to my philosophy training from college. I remembered Paul Tillich's phrase, If you have trouble with the word God, take whatever is central or most meaningful to your life and call that God. I always had trouble with the word or notion of God in a stand-up form. So I developed that thesis and took the biblical injunction to love thy neighbor as thyself as the central and most meaningful thing in my life. I combined it all and typed for days and sent it off and never heard a word. Never got called in. It lingered for about two and a half years and then my first wife became pregnant and I got an exemption based on that. The lawyer that I had retained to pursue my case, one J.B. Teats, told me that I owed him $5,000 as a result of my wife becoming pregnant. He showed me the piece of paper I'd signed, the simple form of a retainer, which stipulated that any more desirable draft status that was achieved during this period of time would be deemed to be the result of his interference. And he was not amused by the conjecture of the child's paternity. So for about two years he dunned me for that $5,000. I finally paid him.

Off the beaten path

I have seen him on Leno, Ford can hardly form coherent sentences.

If he hasn't been stoned for most of the last 30 years, he must have had a serious brain injury.
