MT. VERNON - Over $4 million in marijuana was seized by law enforcement officials Aug. 26 near a cotton field in Tarrytown.
The Montgomery County Sheriffs Office and the Oconee Drug Task Force found the marijuana located near a vacant home at J. E. Willis Rd.
According to officials, they received a call from a concerned resident who tipped them off to the growing marijuana. Plants were found around the outside of the vacant residence, scattered through the roadside ditch and concentrated on the outskirts of the field and receding into the woods. Another large concentration of marijuana was discovered across the road in a field.
I didnt know it was going to be like this, Montgomery Sheriff Clarance Sanders said. I thought it was going to be a few plants.
The few plants numbered into the thousands. Officials counted over 4,400 plants from the area.
Members of the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office, along with the help of county workers, pulled plants out of the field that were as small as two inches and as big as nine and a half feet tall.
Montgomery County has had other marijuana plants found by authorities in the past, but nothing that turned out to be as large a find as this one, authorities said.
No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing.
The War On Some Drugs is built on lies.
The bigger the haul, the cooler the high-tech gizmos they can persuade the tax-payers to buy them.
With the these gizmos, they can confiscate more Trans-Ams to tool around the neighborhood in, trying to look cool.
Lucky for her. Had she not had those connections I would imagine they would have seized all her property, regardless of whom she had let farm it.
4400 plants x 4 ounces each (5 or 8 is a large estimate) = 17600 oz
16 oz in 1 lb = 1100 lbs (17600 / 16 = 1100)
$300 per ounce, but at that weight it's $4000 per lb so: 1100 * $4000 = $4.4 million
And some wonder why others take the risk in growing.
legalize weed and create a new North American industry similar to the new micro-brewing boom. The American government can never stop peaceful people from enjoying liberty and prosperity.
