Schwarzenegger's Position on "undocumented immigrants" ...

What is your position on undocumented immigrants?

I came to California 35 years ago because I saw this state as the best place on earth to fulfill my dreams. Immigrants contribute to the richness of life in California, and I embrace them.

Border enforcement is a federal responsibility. However, state taxpayers currently bear the costs of providing public services to undocumented immigrants, such as incarcerating undocumented immigrants in the state prison system. I will work with other border states, the President, and the U.S. Congress to increase federal reimbursements for these costs.

Proposition 187 has been resolved by the courts. It is time to move on. More than 2.3 million undocumented immigrants currently live in California. They cannot continue to live underground. I will work with federal officials to address this problem.

Gotta disagree with him here. Why not work with other border states, the President and the U.S. Congress to close the borders and enforce existing immigration laws, while denying tax dollars to non-citizens?

"Undocumented Immigrants" is how MECHA and their cohort refer to illegal aliens.

And the answer could be to put them in a supervised guest workers program that insures they go back after a few years.

Great. Solve California's budget problem by letting the rest of the nation's taxpayers foot the bill. Thanks a lot Arnold.

Good news that Arnold will seek reimbursment for the services that the state is being forced to provide to illegals. Arnolds right, control of the international border is up to the Feds and they are doing little about it, including this President.

Is that anything like a "temporary" tax increase?

Screw it, Kalifornia. Vote for Cruz and hasten the collapse of the state so it can be rebuilt in a few years.

Sad how Freepers now parrot the crap spewed by the Amnesty crowd because a popular celeb with an "R" next to his name says the same thing.

In other words, Arnold wants YOUR tax dollars to spend on California's refusal to deal seriously with illegal immigration within their state's borders. That's right, YOU in North Carolina, YOU in Wyoming, YOU in Texas, your dollars are needed by Arnold to help paper over the outrageous acceptance of illegal immigrants in California.

just FYI

He made no statement that lead one to believe he is in favor of amnesty. Unless, of course, you WANT to read that into his words.

He's still the best chance of preventing a bustamante win. And we know he'd be in favor of amnesty.

Nice try.

Why should California, Arizona, Texas or any other border state be forced to pay for the illegals the Feds are letting cross the international border?

Of course, you'd have to keep voting for Republicans to insure they go back. I believe the new hightech documentation and computers could adequately keep track of most of them that enrolled in a guest worker program, if properly enforced.

Arnold is right when he said Prop 187 is dead. We lost the war of the reconquista here. We have to put our energies into ameliorating the blow now.

Cruz Bustamante's "solutions" inevitably will be far worse than Arnold's.

ILLEGAL imigration is more, far more than a California budget problem. It's a problem for all of America and he's right to ask the federal government to address the problem.
