Yes, there are. Remember, the key is not whether you have the majority living in the state, but whether you have the majority of those showing up to vote. This is actually one the ideal times in recent California history when a true conservative can win due to the frustration many feel with the democrat Davis, and the likely voters whi will show up (many conservatives).
You make an excellent point, and one which I am using to base my opinion. I see genuine excitement for Arnie, and ridicule of his oponents. The hardcore libs fear and loathe Arnie, and giggle at McC. You cannot compete against a giggle! They're relishing the internestine paradox.
