"Hospice services emphasize comfort measures rather than aggressive curative treatment. Hospice provides a coordinated program of professional services, including pain control and counseling for patients who have a prognosis of six-months or less to live. It also provides counseling and support for the family members and friends of the terminally ill patient. Hospice services are predominately provided in the patient's home. However, the services are also available in ALFs and nursing homes. Hospice providers are required to be licensed and inspected by the state of Florida."
