Finally, I contacted Congressman Bill Young's Office. His staffer was also very nice and listed carefully to my concerns. She stressed that this is "still" a State matter however

Would it be violating a law for her to tell John Ashcroft? (hopefully, Congressman Young will be with Ashcroft and maybe say something). Although this is a state matter, a Federal Judge has held a hearing on it and it has FEDERAL IMPLICATIONS i.e. THE CONSTITUTION AND THE ADA.
