On another note, why is it that millionares are so keen to run for Senate???

Party operatives like recruiting millionares because they can self-finance their campaigns. Once a self-financed millionare is sworn in as Senator, he/she could pass bills that would benefit his/her business.

Maybe because they can afford to. It ain't cheap to run campaigns anymore for Fed offices. Watch for the media to complain once REPUBLICANS run and elect multi-millionaires for Senate seats without prior political office, but it was NEVER a problem when the 'Rats bought a string of Senate seats from Kohl to Corzine to Clinton, et al...
