Just imagine if some clown from a state with a large population like California or New York were to be among those running for president, and assuming that they would get a large backing from their home states, how would that be offset by a state with fewer people?

Yeah, that might lead to people with loose morals getting elected to high office, and we certainly can't have that in this country...

I'm not saying that the Electoral College is a cure-all, but I see no reason to open the presidential door to more unqualified or dangerous candidates.
