It's a shame many freepers don't understand states' rights. This is precisely the reason local control of government causes the least friction. The Founders understood it, and de Tocqueville saw it in action and documented it.

States do not have rights, they do however have reserved *powers*, which are secured from federal enchroachment by the 10th amendment.

I remember a few years back when the professors here used deToqueville's books. Now, not a one. We've come a long way--not.
