btw, I'm holding my final judgement about Schwarzenegger regarding his position on gun control. I don't know his specifics yet. I have heard a lot of conjecture but want to hear it from him. I heard him say he supports the Brady law and closing the loopholes for gun shows and less specific comments.

Okay, let's say Arnold can do something about some intances of abortion.

What would he change in California abortion laws? Are anti-Schwarzenegger people advocating that he can make them more liberal? I'd like them to be specific. The argument is a red herring.

I still stand by my basic premise that for any resolution to abortion, it's going to be resolved nationally and not state by state.

That's true.

I even brought this to Roscoe's attention but he ignored it.

btw, thanks for the head's up. Roscoe's MO seems to be about deception (a typically leftist MO) and not about legitimate debate. I think I'll ignore him from here on out.

"Is money more important than life?" ---------------------- The original poster was not referring to abortion restrictions. This poster was referring to banning abortion which is why DoughtyOne identified the statement as dishonest.

That quote is NOT referring to banning all abortion. No one was talking about banning all abortion. Abortion restrictions save lives. It's really - very - simple - for - people - who - can - read. Doughty said "Schwarzenegger cannot affect abortion policy" -- thinks it's only a federal issue or something -- which is just completely false, I called him on it repeatedly and on his harassment of the pro-lifer, and he has had no answer, other than to start talking about banning all abortion again. But he's even maybe given up on that argument now, as his federal-only crap has been refuted repeatedly on this thread alone.

BTW, I've never attacked Arnold. I've said he's a liberal, which he is, especially on social issues. I hope he's a fiscal conservative; he says he is, but has no record of public policy decisions (other than the education spending plan). I hope he'd be a positive for the GOP, though the history of 'moderate' governors suggests otherwise. I think there's a good chance Cali will end up with him, so I'm prepared to make the best of it, but I also think Tom McClintock can win -- we'll see if he can gain ground leading up to the election.

"RUDY endorses ARNOLD." That alone should be a red flag to conservatives.

To be fair, Rudy has been endorsing, raising money for, campaigning for, every Republican under the sun across the country of all ideologies for the past year and a half. I don't think he's gotten involved in primaries too much, but this election is a different story anyway.

You'll just have to pardon me for realizing I have bigger fish to fry.  My choice is between a man at 11% and another at 45%.  One of these two men must win against Bustamante.

If Trent Lott was running against the Devil and Bill Clinton were in the race, I'd vote for Bill Clinton if Trent Lott was at 11% and Bill was at 45%.

We've discussed this issue until it's been beaten to death.

This has been a circular argument. See my post #362. The hard fact is that no one other than a pro-choice candidate will be elected as governor of California in today's climate. For anyone that thinks otherwise, here's a reality check:

You really were ignorant of his position?
On Fox News's "O'Reilly Factor," on Aug. 16, 2000, Schwarzenegger described himself as "extremely liberal" on social issues, and said: "I'm for choice. The women should have the choice. The women should decide what they want to do with their bodies. I'm all for that."

But today, for political advantage, he claims his "extremely liberal" support for abortion doesn't include abortions committed during the actual birth.

How proud you must be.
