Isn't the maximum age for enlistment 27? How can he be 35+ and have only 5 years in?

I believe the general maximum for the US Army is 34, although the maximum enlistment age can be much lower for certain specialties.

Isn't the maximum age for enlistment 27?To join the Army, you must be between the ages of 17 and 34 (both Active Duty and Reserve).
