I'm reluctant to get in the middle of RD's flame-out, but I must point out a misunderstanding that both of you seemed to have overlooked:

1. the original article which started the thread did not contain any info about the husband wanting to cut off further medical treatments; I don't know where it is required reading that every poster must click on every link, read every tangential article deemed important by other posters, before posting to the original article. Is this in the FR bylaws somewhere?
2. the excerpt you pulled out, RD, from his legal suit specifically requests that no medical interventions be implemented to treat medical illnesses; palliative measures are specifically excluded from his legal request.
3. If you do not understand what a palliative measure is, you can read up on them, but basically they're measures to reduce pain and suffering. They're not of a curative nature; they simply allay pain and suffering.
4. You'll notice that palliative measures are specifically excluded from Mr Husband's request--and for a good reason: hospitals and medical healthcare workers, by law and license, are REQUIRED to provide palliative treatment. The husband did not request that his wife die a slow and painful death; he requested that no medical treatments be implemented for treatment of illnesses. Big difference. Big big difference. It is common in hospitals and hospices to provide only palliative measures when there is no hope of a cure and when an aggressive medical treatment is not likely to improve either quality of life or longevity.
5. From all that i know about starvation, by the way, it is not a painful death at all.

I hope that clears up your misunderstanding. And from where this Mighty Mouse sits, Robert Drobot owes verity an apology, although for a different reason than he might expect. Thank you for your attention, and to RD, a thank you in advance for your commitment to personal accountability. And now MM can go to bed, satisfied to have saved another day.

Your sorry attempt to free the labeler from the stock will have a response, but not tonight, MM.

From all that i know about starvation, by the way, it is not a painful death at all.

If so, why do most of us go out of our way to avoid hunger pangs? Starvation of this woman is something Hitler or Stalin would have ordered LONG AGO.

Several years ago I had to undergo a medical test and not take solid food for day and a half. And even that was very unpleasant. I can imagine starving to death to be unbearable.

I've also read of persons being in a coma for many years and then recovering. To me the husband sounds just like Scott Peterson.

Isn't it amazing that people who advocate death by starvation for OTHERS have full stomachs!

Terri's web site is hyperlinked on a few threads here. Seeing the videos of her blinking her eyes when asked a question and responding to her mom, following a balloon, she's in there. The feeding tube may be gross to hubby but I've seen it on tv and it's not gross. Believe me, I am real squeamish and it didn't bother me.

when an aggressive medical treatment is not likely to improve either quality

What agressive medical treatment? Food certainly isn't that. Antibiotics aren't either.

Many thanks (although your flamer, I'm sure, disagrees; he's already said that he's not about to cough up a rightful apology). cheers, verity!
