Zippo Puts Web Site's Lights Out

Zippo Manufacturing Co. has extinguished Zippotricks.com.

Citing concerns of fire safety officials, Zippo yesterday shut down the company-sponsored Web site that featured 555 flaming tricks that could be done with Zippo lighters.

The company also said it was canceling all trick demonstrations, including those performed on its current 10-city Hot Tour. Instead of whirling, twisting, flipping and igniting lighters, the two professional showmen on the tour -- "Booty" and "Mr. Twistyneck" -- will promote local "hot" bands selected by the company.

Forget about guns... the bourgeois must be liberated from fire.

How long 'til we're compelled to license and register our Grillmaster 5000s?

Afterall, 20lbs of compressed propane can't be left to the rabble...

Ok, who out there knows how to diddle the Google archive function to bring this site back from the dead for us?

Google cache for Zippo Tricks.
(Click on the "Cached" links, not on the page links.)

It may still take quite a bit of digging, looks like there were a heckuva lot of pages at that site.

I was able to find some text descriptions of tricks, but unfortunately the links to pics and video are dead.

20lbs of compressed propane

Reminds me of something about 15 years back. Went to refill a tank during lunch. Bought and filled a second while I was
there. 40lbs in the trunk.

Ran in to, er, saw a coworker in the parking lot.

He picked that day to loan me his oxy-ethane setup. In to the trunk...

Driving home, I was praying that I wasn't going to get rear ended.

No butane though. Now I do keep a disposable in the glove compartment for whatever.

Never owned a Zippo. But I never really smoked, either.

However, Zippo tricks sounds intrigueing.
