Indeed, it is important to point out how, in Marxist economic and geopolitical strategy, a key concept is the idea of leveling at the global playing field. Not only does it foment anti Westernism in developing countries who begin to feel emboldened by the influx of, ironically, Western investment, but it strains the Western powers themselves and makes them less capable to confront the Marxists. Anyone who naively believes that the events of 1989 - 1991 in Europe somehow signaled the death of Marxism as a virulent, anti Western force, needs to look at the geopolitical realities since then, and the growing anti Western axis which is a literal "league of extraordinary" goons, all arrayed against us - Islamists, Communists, and other anti Westernists. Oddly, the nations who fit into this list are largely the same ones which comprised the Soviet empire and nations they at one time or another aided. This time, they march together in unison.
