It's about upsetting the geo-political makeup of the Middle East. It's the same as setting up a police precinct in the middle of a crime-ridden neighborhood.

That's true.

And it's a good thing.

Thanks for the info from John Loftus.

He's usually on target as he has his own sources from within several agencies, as well as Israel.

I heard a report (speculation?) last winter that the WMDs were loaded aboard two cargo ships. Anyone else remember hearing that?

Conservatives should wonder why we have people undermining the last best hope we have.

Conservatives should welcome those who ask questions. It provides a challenge and keeps us honest. Since the democrat party has sold it's soul to the devil, I think it's best that we find honest opposition (for lack of a better term) within our own ranks. If billbears asks questions, then maybe you (and by extension) those who have done nothing but attack him should instead be bolstering your arguments with what documented fact there as opposed to a bunch of ad hominem crap. Liberals live off of hyperbole, ad hominem, opinion, and will viciously attack anyone who disagrees. That type of behavior is not indicative of Conservatism.

Besides marching lockstep (ie: questioning nothing) is in no way Conservatism, it is Clintonism.

I don't think he was asking questions. I think he was sneering and using a cynical approach to sow distrust of our commander in chief in a war, a war, not a political arguement over how to spend our tax money. His cynical distrustful questioning didn't seem to me to be genuine. Now the question of where are the WMD has been tossed around and most agree that they were hidden or spirited out of the country. It has been pointed out over and over the evidence that there was WMD in Iraq, hell they used chemicals and they admitted it, they admitted it. So why does Bilious come here implying GWB and our intelligence is lying or deceiving us? That is the question I was answering. I was saying he is no friend to us, to our war effort, was undermining trust at a vital time. You don't sit around carping in a political way about the Commander during wartime unless of course you are part of a fifth column. I used to think that was all paranoid thinking but I am more and more convinced it is so. All who ask questions aren't doing so in a manner that is made to make this country stronger. Some do it to undermine and I think Bill is that sort,,whether he is traitorous or just naive,,well I think he is a naive congenital distrustful doubter which is why I bothered to answer him. I think you are way way off base.

Dear sir, WMDs are a possibility. In this region the consequences of inaction are tremendous - as we saw after 8 years of stupid Dem politics.
Iraq tried several times to get nukes, Syria is way too much on the anti-US side, the two countries are neighbours! It's rather trivial, isn't it? I'm not saying to bomb them... yet. But it might be necessary. Let the information be known and verified. But to dismiss it without any substantial arguments, as you did, is silly. Even disgusting at this point.

The American people may not have the stones for a war as you and granite say, you are probably right. But my thought is the war is coming ready or not. I think it will come to us and the people will develope the stones. A pity because I do believe we need to preempt. But I do know it won't happen unless GWB is alot different from what I think. I don't want it to come here but either it will or Israel, never known for not having "stones", will take care of matters.

Oh sure, I remember the every night last fall watching Fox News hearing the administration's talking heads covering the human rights violations < /sarcasm>. It was WMD all day, all the time. The tons upon tons and liters of WMDs that Hussein was practically handing out like candy to the terrorists was all we heard of.

So then you also remember the stories posted here of convoys of trucks seen leaving from suspected sites in Iraq and heading into Syria and into the mountians of Iran. I do because of all of the people so frustrated and screaming that we were letting the evidence get away by not going in that minute and stopping the flow.

I guess all the documentation that there was a WMD program that the troops have found also hold no weight with you. There is no doubt that there was WMD there. There is only doubt about where they put it. Russia has been very condesending in their remarks to Blair about the program, they are sure we will find nothing in Iraq, so it is no longer there.

Don't be fooled by the "just asking questions" rationalizations. Drama-queens and those who wallow in conspiracies, love this stuff.

Their trick is to "just ask questions", and demand answers,
in the MIDDLE OF A WAR, when they know that the Admin. and the CIA can tell us little or nothing at this time.

They demand "court of law evidence", as if the Middle East follows the same rules, and as if we would give up sources to satisfy their lack of patience. After all, this must be wrapped up soon, in order to move to the next conspiracy.

And don't forget, Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft and Tenet, are all mendacious, devious and sinister.

And Saddam, Iran, and Syria, are just innocent bystanders in the US's quest for an Empire.

I think if you're going to talk about someone you ought to ping them

I was saying he is no friend to us, to our war effort, was undermining trust at a vital time

What vital time? When would you suggest I do that? Considering even the most conservative estimates from the neocons are now in the 10-20 year range for troops in Iraq and it looks as if there's going to be another 'action' in the war on terror (which in itself will last for a generation) on the horizon, just when would you suggest I start asking questions? Or dare I not ask questions of the great W?

But don't you worry, the die is cast. We're 'all war, all the time' now. After Iraq will come Liberia, then Syria, maybe Iran, heck if we can swing it we could get North Korea (the only nation besides Saudi Arabia that presents a direct threat to this nation) on the fly

Just like all the trucks that have been carrying dirt from the bunker/tunnel building that took place at night under the cover of darkness. The History Channel did an amazing piece on "Saddam's Tunnels". Clearly they have been/are using trucks to transport all kinds of things to avoid satellite detection.

Your post succinctly says what I was trying to say. Thank you for making it clear,,I get so impatient with these people because it is so clear to me that their motives are either stupid, adolescent or sinister that I just cannot respond as clearly as you do. They sort of act like international affairs, wars, diplomacy, ought to be just out there, all the intelligence, the thinking, the planning. I think that is very naive. And a tactic to undermine.

I think Saddam is still banking on everything you have said in #52. It's already playing out.

Oh my dear, I forgot my manners and didn't ping you. Please forgive me. Yep, I think this will last a generation but maybe not. This "vital time" refers to a state of war and a state of maybe siege as there are forces about who wish to kill us, fly our planes into big buildings, bomb people around the globe. I am beginning to think of Islamo fascist addicted to bombing. I have yet to see anything they do that is helpful. Even the fascists in Italy ran the trains on time. Even the fascists in spain sort of kept a clean country. Even the Singapore government doesn't allow smoking and depositing butts on the street. But these people seem to do nothing but plan the next bomb, the next killing, the next outrage. So it is vital now that we eliminate them and if it takes a generation to do so, well so be it. The world will be better. And all the rest is white noise and fear. We would all just like to read our paper, drink our Lattes, visit our children and friends, have dates, play tennis, go fishing, etc. But it just won't be that way for a while. And carping and referring to the President is such a derisive way, "The great W", wont really strengthen us for what may come. I will try to remember to ping you and not hurt your feelings in the future. But my dear young man, you need to grow up and not be so scared of the future. We will all face it together, some at more risk than us.

Israeli intelligence believes the same.

The CIA gets 95% of their ME intelligence from Israel. This is why we "give" them a few billion each year.

The CIA is the most incompetent bunch of f-ups ever assembled in one place in world history. They couldn't disrupt the 9-11 plan even though the same target was hit previously by the same people.

And no, things haven't changed since 9-11, they still can't find darkness at night.
