August 25, 2003 -- U.S. forces in Iraq are secretly recruiting spies who used to work for Saddam Hussein in a bid to stop plots against American troops, it was reported yesterday.
The extraordinary decision to recruit former agents of Saddam's dreaded Mukhabarat intelligence agency reflects a growing belief that troops alone can't prevent attacks, The Washington Post said.

Not a bad idea, as long as we avoid disinfo, double agents and most importantly, we must remember to "neutralize" them after they've outlived their usefulness.

This was the policy remember that Clinton discontinued so that we wouldn't be associated with "bad" people. And this lapse and gap allowed the terrorists to perform 9/11 with ease.
