Fault of '60s ideology, no.
Indulgence of the '60s ideology, yes.
Human behaviors were thought to have no consequences. Time taught otherwise.
On alcholism
I had an Irish neighbor. He had watched his father die of delirium tremens. Before that his uncle. In fact his male ancestry had been dying of the disease for generations. Yet no one warned him of the dangers of alcoholism. He was the first of his line to realize what was going on and break the cycle. He did so in the '60s.
On consequences
The '60s generation took wealth and intelligence for granted and devalued the work ethic. The result was license was mistaken for freedom. In their zeal for fairness and their desire to eradicate tribal brutality they embraced a communist approach to wealth and property - a disaster.
