Wow, nice to blanket the entire Catholic clergy (and I'm guessing, the entire Catholic laity by extension) as like the Muslims. Difference is a lot (a great lot) of us Catholics are against sex abuse by our clergymen and the subsequent cover-ups and say so, whereas hardly any Muslims of importance have spoken out in anyway against terrorism.

I would like to know if Gagan ever confessed his crimes to the district attorney? Did he ever confess his crimes to the victims and their parents, or did he say they were all lying?

You don't know much about prison culture. Child molestors are pariahs in prison, and are fair game for beatings from anyone. I don't think this guy would have been brazen enough to hit on anyone, if another inmate would be willing to be seen conversing with him.

I said nothing about the laity. I am a member of that laity, and I am speaking out here and locally- as I sure you and others are.

I was talking about the 'officials' of the Church and the priests themselves. Here the spokesman for the diocese is someone I grew up with and I am disgusted to hear him read the 'party line'. I haven't seen any groups of priests locally( New Orleans)raging against homosexuals in the priesthood. I've heard one or two in the media HINT that that is the main problem, but the very people who should be morally outraged are being PC or silent.

The pedophilia issue is public now, and the Church is being forced to face it; but it is also being used as a diversion away from the ROOT problem. Homosexuality in the Church.

I even know atheists who wouldn't molest a child or hurt anyone in any way.

That is no doubt very true. I don't have any idea what the percentages are, but I would wager that most people aren't tempted to molest a child sexually, with the exception of hetersexuals who are attracted to teenage girls.

Many of our prisons are nothing more than country clubs where people lay around all day watching videos, playing on the internet, doing a few push-ups in a plush gym, their favorite dinners. Not much crime deterrence obviously. Crime isn't unavoidable --- petty criminals get a few days in jail, you actually have to do something fairly serious and have a past history to end up in prison. Drug offenders usually end up in some pretty easy place with minimum or moderate security. They don't even have to stop their drug use, they can get it brought in easily enough. One of the guards at La Tuna was just caught bringing in cocaine to the prisoners there, that place is considered pretty much to be a country club.

Not that I'm defending child molestors or anything, but your "If you don't want to do the time, don't do the crime" comment is a stereoteypical knuckle-dragger Archie Bunker conservative remark.

So what would you say to child molestors? You don't think they should do the time if they do the crime?

It's 20 year old non-violent offender Joe Blo who isn't gang-affiliated and is serving 18-24 months for car stereo theft or posessing a few ounces of marijuana.

Maybe Goeghan started trying something on the non-violent 20 year old pot-head Joe Blo and the other more violent prisoners didn't like what he was doing.

To be honest, it could never be a problem for me. I guess that's why I have some compassion and would give them an out before they committed a very serious crime. If they don't wish to go to prison or commit suicide they could at least try living a life as a eunuch. I really don't see the problem in giving that a try.

Yes, in general, but with reservations. I think it is still possible to swing the pengelum back and to do it within the system.

Remember, my friend that it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. When was the last time you participated in a FR chapter event protest? If you haven't, I heartily recommend that you do so as soon as possible.

Every body (and I do mean to put those words separately) present DOES make a difference. Your voice, and I hope it is tempered with wisdom, DOES make a difference! Go for it!

Conservatives believe in rule of law, not vigilanteism

In a country such as the United States where the law is for sale to the highest bidder or politically connected, vigilantism often substitutes for the rule of law. Is this a great country or what ?

As mcu as the legal profession expresses distaste for rough justice, it is a reflection of their failure to meet expectations for any justice.

I find that, after years on this wonderful website, that I largely get what I want in the political arena because there are a lot of folks lurking. If you make sense, people will listen.

Heck, all of Washington DC watches our every move because they have to.

I've complained about FOX News and seen accomodating changes within a week!

Well, this certainly eliminates the possibility of more trials for him, and more embarrasing revelations of further wrongdoings by his overseers.

He also will not turn State's Evidence to lessen his sentence or get better priveliges in prison. No more data from him now!

And he was in isolation for "safety", and while isolated this other guy also isolated, did the hit?

I'd love to be Executioner-In-Chief, travelling from prison to prison, executing all on death row. Those lowlife, subhumanss number 3,800-plus. And I'd do it at no charge to US Taxpayers. Gleefully and gladly. On my nickel.

Count me in! You took the words right out of my head that I have been telling to family and friends for at least the last decade.

THANK YOU!

The day this website is taken is taken off the internet is the day the revolution starts. But remember: we're the party with the guns! :)

Get out there and protest for decency and against corruption!
