...maybe you should follow the polls more closely and listen to the Latinos

And listen to latino radio & TV. Often the view of the news in those venues is quite different from what the rest of us read and hear. I learned that from having a South American, mostly Spanish speaking, woman working for me. Her interpretation of news stories on Spanich radio was sometimes at direct odds with what we heard on English radio.

Most of California has Spanish language newspapers(some in both) and I have read their rags, and it had the effect of making me concerned that Bustamante does have a chance..
