THE TWO FACES OF KATHY

Some final thoughts on the parole of Kathy Boudin, the '60s radical and cop-killer-accomplice, now ordered set free after 22 years behind bars.

A reconsideration of that order, always a long shot, was ruled out yesterday.

Much has been made of the exemplary prison record compiled by the former Weather Underground radical.

How can anyone take our war on terrorism seriously when we are paroling terrorists like this?

Three good men remain dead, and nothing will ever change that.

Exactly. If she's had 22 years to rethink her actions and is truly remorseful, let her go.

Nah, she has only one face, evil cop killer. The other is just a mask that she puts on to fool willing bleeding hearts.

My bet is that, once free, she will quickly drop the mask (at least partially) and take up again with her ultra-left wing, America-hating roots. You'll see her in DC at these anti-war demonstrations that are really anti-Bush, anti-America demonstrations. The neat part will be when she violates her parole. She will, because she will be found in the company of other felons. Whether the authorites have the brass to call her on it in the face of an old timee media (the NYT, ABC, CNN etc.) drum beat demanding her sainthood, is another story. Dead cops? Let's put that behind us and move on (unless a Republican is involved).

"If she's had 22 years to rethink her actions and is truly remorseful, let her go."

Two dead cops, one dead security officer; three widows; nine fatherless children. How much "rethinking" and "remorse" can ever make that right?

She's not remorseful. As her remarks to the parole panel make clear, she remains a dedicated Marxist revolutionary, and the death of a few "pigs" still means nothing to her. All of the Nyack killers -- Shakur, Clark, Brown, Boudin, Gilbert and all their accomplices -- should have been put to death long ago.

Anyone who ever suggests clemency or mercy for a cop-killer is insane. ALL COP-KILLERS MUST DIE!

Kathy Boudin - 1981

She was sentenced to "20 years to life" and I did read, in another report, that the Judge at her sentencing specifically stated she should be released after serving the minimum.

Considering her behaviour while in prison, it seems that parole was reasonable in this case.

She repeated the same 1960s mantra as Hillary Clinton.

She should have been given the death penalty for murder. She's already murdered ---a proven murderer, there is no reason for her to be loose on society to murder again.

Considering her behavior outside, life seems reasonable (if not downright generous) in this case. Judges make stupid recommendations all the time.

I was not able to find a quote from her hearing transcript to support the above statement. I did find the one shown below, but considering the source, we know that it is painting her in the best possible light.

Can you post a link to the quote you are referring to? From the NY Times:

Ms. Boudin told the commissioners that she had a warped view of the world…

"It was a completely distorted and disturbed view, and you can have political discussions about it, but in reality I was a disturbed person that was living a life that made no sense," she said.

I disagree.

She's lucky that she committed her crimes in New York.

In Texas we execute murderers.

As long as terrorism is a major problem, every terrorist should have to rot in jail till time to rot in Hell.
Releasing any terrorist sends the terrible message that terrorism is a survivable avocation.

I was at dinner last night with a former lawyer for the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee. He expressed his annoyance that the papers always referred to Leonard Boudin, Kathy's father, as a leading civil rights lawyer. Boudin was, in fact, the head lawyer for the Communist Party, the one who always showed up in court with every big-name Communist defendant. The committee had his Party card.

Kathy is the classic red-diaper baby. Leftists of that stripe seldom break. They "quiet down," as my dinner companion put it last night, but rarely switch sides or rat out their former comrades.

Kathy Boudin might be the rare exception. At least I believe I heard her express something like genuine remorse and repentance. And it didn't sound at all like the usual jailhouse "I've learned my lesson and I've found God" speeches.

Chuck Colson came away from prison a changed man and has done marvelous work ever since. Maybe, just maybe, Kathy Boudin is changed too. We'll see soon enough, I reckon.

Wonder how long St. Paul what-her-name from the SLA will have to serve after her cover was blown ?

the three murdered officers had nine children...who all grew up fatherless. Kathy's son went to Yale and is now headed to Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship. Doesn't seem fair now, does it?

Here is a quote from a review of the documentary The Weathermen Underground:

Left out of the film completely is a record of what happened to the "revolution happening in the third world" that the young Rudd talked about. Green and Siegel include footage of Mao and North Vietnamese tanks rolling into Saigon. The murderous effects of those revolutions, of the people the Weathermen wanted to emulate, are left unspoken. The only record is provided by Mark Rudd when, sighing into the camera, he tries to explain why he used to think he could free mankind by setting off bombs. (see my tagline)

The article has several links to other stories, which may answer your question.

"Can't blame me. I was sick." Now that's taking responsibility for your actions and showing remorse!

Of course, Chuck Colson's 'crimes' pale in comparison to those of the Weathermen and their cohorts.

I have long viewed Mr. Colson as being a true 'political prisoner' (when he was incarcerated). Proof being that no Democrat went to jail, during the Clinton years, for the stealling of over 900 FBI files.

I also have long been convinced that those files hold the key to Republicans lack of will to truly go after the Clinton's numerous crimes.
