Schwarzenegger is beefcake and Davis is chicken, Taco Bell Claims (laugh alert)

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Brawny movie star and political wannabe Arnold Schwarzenegger is a crunchy beef taco, while California's unpopular Governor Gray Davis is chicken in soft wrapping.
That's the conclusion of a US fast food outlet that has reduced California's colourful electoral circus to a battle between spicy Mexican take-away meals that represent the state's political hopefuls.
Consumers can now "put their vote where their mouth is," said Laurie Schalow, a spokeswoman for the Taco Bell chain which Thursday launched a "Taco Poll" in which diners can choose their next governor from the menu.
The fast food chain threw its popular products into electoral ring, saying that if punters bought its Crunchy Beef Tacos, they would be casting a vote for the Austrian-born former body builder.
But if hungry patrons opt instead for a Chicken Soft Taco, their choice would be counted as a vote for embattled Davis, the target of the October 7 special elections aimed at ousting him.
"Buy a Grilled Beef Stuft Burrito, and we'll count that as a vote for one of the" 134 other candidates vying for the freewheeling western state's top job if Davis is ousted, an advertisement published in newspapers Thursday proclaimed.
"We have a marketing team that's always looking for events we can attach our brand to in an innovative and clever way," Schalow said. "That's how we made the decision with the Taco Poll."
The results from the more than 1,000 California fast-food restaurants will be posted on Taco Bell's Web site each Tuesday, Schalow said.
Schalow said it would be interesting to see if the fast-food fans' "predictions rings true on election day."
"We think it's an innovative way to remind California voters to get out to the polls by putting their vote where their mouth is," said the company's chief marketing officer Greg Creed.

That would be a good picture. Gay the chicken and Ahnie the steak.
I personally prefer beef to chicken in tacos as well as in sandwiches.

Taco Bell has one heck of an advertising team. Do you remember the bullseye for skylab?

I guess that makes Cruz Boost-yer-taxes a bean burrito without the sauce -- He's bland, and all he produces is more of the same old gas.

No way. Here's the caption. It's just a picture from Google.

In other news, CA Gov. Gray Davis puts his state further into debt by ordering several thousand Taco Bell chicken soft tacos for his staff...

They might do just that. All government bureacrats (and there are plenty in KKK-alifornia) will be issued chicken mush.

The real reason Taco Bell didn't assign a corresponding item to Cruz is the chain's fear of being attacked as bigoted. "Sure, say the Mexican-American guy is a BURRITO! RACISTS!"

It's not just that. You can't say anything about a Mexican, without being politically you-know-what. It should be equal treatment for all.
