But the blogs that really took off were the pundit blogs, filled with passionate debate and colorful insults. Freewheeling and full of attitude, they're a far cry from the carefully reasoned - some would say boring - opinions expressed on newspapers' op-ed pages.

I can't even stand to read their op-ed section, unless I'm having trouble sleeping.

I can't even stand to read their op-ed section, unless I'm having trouble sleeping. Same with my local paper. The editorial invariably starts with, "We as a community need to spend more money on (insert liberal cause-du-jour here)."

The hard thing, initially, with blogs is getting readers.
One way to do that is to put one's blog address in
one's tagline, but I would never do that.
