The new symbol should be "0" ...representing the number of members most mainstream churches will have if they continue down the "tolerance" path.

Note to Alabama SC: The first paragraphs of this suggest that anyone wanting to disestablish another's religious symbology is bigoted. FWIW I agree.

This is religious hate-speech and should be prosecuted in the courts.

The cross is a bridge, not a barrier.

Not surprised to find the ACLU mentioned in this article. I have come to believe the ACLU is no longer about civil liberties, but rather about destroying the Christian faith.

The ACLU is truly an enemy within, moving deftly to destroy Christianity with secularism.

Oh well, upon re-reading the article-I see that I read the ACLC (American Clergy Leadership Council) as the ACLU ( American Civil Liberties Union).

Stuff happens.

In a way-I was even more sickened that clergy, who should understand the significance of the cross to all Christians, would move to have it removed from churches.

Tho I still consider the ACLU an enemy of mine, I now consider the ACLC corrupted and yet another PC organization set against the depth and meaning and wonder of Christ.

The cross as a symbol of perceived superiority? Why, what on earth is Christianity coming to?

< Heavily troweled sarcasm off >

I protest the use of the Rolls-Royce logo as a symbol of perceived superiority.

This would make a great piece for "The Onion."

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing!

"In a related issue, the same Church urges that Christianity give up the belief that Jesus is the Son of G-d. A spokesman said, 'Given the perceived superiority of a religion who's tennant is that if you believe, you will be saved is so unfair to non-believers that we suggest that this whole 'Jesus thing' be dropped!"

"We have held up this cross in the face of Jews to say, 'If it had not been for your rejection of Jesus, our Messiah would never have been crucified," Stallings added.

You just knew they would not stop with Judge Moore. Now maybe we can get the President and Congress to decide if we are going to continue to be the nation our forefathers laid out for us, or become a fascist state with a Hitler like character demanding he be worshipped as God. Sounds like we are getting close to this:

Revelation 13
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

It's not surprising that the cross as a symbol is attacked but removing a symbol as an element of bringing together faiths is lacking in understanding the cross's significance.
Christians don't worship any symbols, the cross boldly represents the story of the depth of God's love for fallen man. Worshipped symbols were the object of God's wrath as in the case of a bronze serpent used to save God's people from "fiery serpents" at a time when God's protection had been removed due to the people's grumbling. It was their faith in trusting that their protection would be assured by gazing upon the bronze serpent that saved them. This symbol was mistakenly worshipped and had to be destroyed to save the people from their misunderstanding.

2 Kings 18:4
He removed the high places and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah. He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it; and it was called Nehushtan.

The cross is not a barrier, the barrier is their lack of faith in what the cross represents therefor they are insincere in forwarding the idea that removing the symbol of the cross will end their hatred toward Christianity.

the key to "true and lasting peace in the Middle East" is reconciliation between members of the world's three largest religions.

The only reconciliation that can bring peace is people becoming reconciled with God through his Son Jesus.

Stallings added that "a history of religious intolerance, forced conversions, inquisitions and even racism as used by white supremacists" also follows the cross through Christian history.

Yes, totally unlike the millions of examples of human charity and respect for human rights that follows the Muslim crescent through history
