Arnold never won an award for his acting. And so far he hasn't shown me anything to reward him with one of the biggest prizes in politics, especially his first time out. Tom McClintock has been fighting in the trenches for Californians for 20 years, and has earned the right to be Governor. While Tom was working his tail off for Californians, Arnold was off playing with toy guns, makeup artists, cigars, Humvees, and who knows what else, "for the children" of course, and getting paid huge sums of money to do it. At the same time, Tom toiled in the trenches of California, often with much opposition, on a meager public servant's salary. Sorry Arnie, but you are no Tom McClintock, and have a long way to go before you can even polish Tom's shoes. And tell Buffet to go back to the Land of Oz, and take his good friend, wicked witch Hillary, with him. We Californians have been burned long enough by political illusions.

Is that all you can say, repeat the same post over and over and over again, regardless of the topic of the discussion?

You've been a memeber of FR long enough to know that what you're doing ( posting the same reply, to many threads ) is considered to be spaming, NOT looked favorably upon, and is proof that one has nothing much of value to add to the discussion.

Tom McClintock would make a great governor. He has worked hard and deserves it. So vote your conscience. Unfortunately, voting your conscience is not going to prepare you for Cruz Bustamante's press conferences in Spanish. You will need foreign language lessons for that. But at least you can say that you were one of the 9% --- que lastima.

No doubt Tom is more conservative than Arnold. Unfortunately, that is exactly why Tom cannot possibly get elected.
The ever-increasing hispanic population (legal and illegal) has proven to vote early and often (ask Bob Dornan). They will vote for Bustamante.
When Reagan ran, the dynamics were very different. Back then, Tom could have been elected.
Compromise is not always pleasant, but I'll take half a loaf over none. And, Bustamante is none.

"earned the right to be Governor"
I'm not sure I agree with that statement - although I do believe Tom is the best man for the job.
I just don't think anybody has an inheritant "right" to be Gov. or Pres., etc. That was the mistake the repubs made with Dole. They kept saying he had paid his dues and he "deserved" to be Pres. That is not a good enough reason.

Who is this Tom Macsomething you are so enamoured with? Haven't heard a thing except he is in the trenches. What does that mean?

Tom McClintock has been fighting in the trenches for Californians for 20 years, and has earned the right to be Governor. All very true. But in California, as well as the rest of the country to a large extent, there are two ironclad requirements for running a successful campaign for elective office: You've got to be a nice guy and look good on television.
Arnold comes off as Mr. Nice Guy. Whether he is or not remains to be seen. As for looking good on TV, well, he's had about twenty years to perfect his craft, so that one's a no brainer.
So all of a sudden Arnold is for no new taxes (read my lips!), won't abolish Prop. 13, is against gun control, and in general is projecting the all-around nice guy image that will get him elected in October. About the only thing he hasn't backed off is his stand on gay marriage. And that's only because he hasn't said anything at all about it for the past few days.
Why am I not convinced?

has earned the right to be Governor Argues facts not in evidence.
Forty-six (46) days from today the people of California will vote; the results will determine who will be governor.
