ON GUN CONTROL: PLAYBOY: Although your movies have plenty of gore, they don't have much sex. And your character rarely has a love interest. Is that deliberate?
SCHWARZENEGGER: I have a love interest in every one of my films -- a gun. [Laughs] It doesn't always have to be a woman. That's boring. Besides, you have to understand: In most action movies, women are in the way.
PLAYBOY: What about the kinds of characters you play -- terminators, eliminators, commandos? Do you think the message they send is that violence is heroic?
SCHWARZENEGGER: No, because the bad guys do worse. My characters just defend themselves. The message that is sent is to be strong and to be smart and to rely on yourself to get out of danger, to save your own life.
Look, you've had assassinations before now. Presidents were shot before Reagan and Kennedy, before there was television or radio. You can't say what puts a crazy idea in a crazy mind. It's easy to blame a movie rather than to blame yourself. Which is what parents are doing.
Another thing about these reports that come out: They can be interpreted how you want. Many movies reflect what is happening in society and are taken from real stories. Maybe showing that is helpful, because it makes people know what can happen to them if they kill someone.
But the newspapers and news media are much more sensational. There was violence on the California freeways before, but now everyone's doing a story on it.
PLAYBOY: So you think the press is at fault?
SCHWARZENEGGER: In the case of the California freeway killers, I think the big mistake is that people keep guns in their glove compartments. The deal with that is, when you have a permit, you're always supposed to keep your ammunition and your gun separate, so if you get emotional, by the time you get your gun from the glove compartment and your ammunition out of your trunk, you have a chance to cool down.
But the bad thing about all this is that it makes people think that we have to eliminate guns.
PLAYBOY: And you don't think so?
SCHWARZENEGGER: Outlawing guns is not the right method of eliminating the problem. If you outlaw guns, people will still have them illegally. In Europe, they're outlawed everywhere. They have very strict gun control in Italy. Yet the Pope was shot. They have very strict gun control in Germany. Yet you see pimps shooting one another. Politicians have been shot in Sweden and Holland, where guns are outlawed.
I don't know how you handle this. I'm no expert.

Seems pretty clear to me.
He wants CA motorists who won't follow the law to be able to slaughter those who do while they try to load in self-defense.

The argument was in the Republica primary.
And Riordan was indeed a RINO against the peoples' right to self-defense and would have done very little different than what Davis has done.
The right person won that Primary, only to be sabotaged by RINOs and other liberal Republicans from within the CA GOP.

So these are his real opinions, not just something to say "win over conservatives". His "real opiinions" from 15 years ago. People change and 15 years is long time. I'm more inclined to believe he means what he says now.

The question is not whether Arnold is as pro-gun as we'd like- it's whether Electable Arnold is more pro-gun, than the alternative. The problem with that approach is that it guarantees the eventual elimination of our gun rights. It becomes an argument over how soon we will surrender them rather than whether we will surrender them.

Tom McClintock would make a great governor. He has worked hard and deserves it. So vote your conscience. Unfortunately, voting your conscience is not going to prepare you for Cruz Bustamante's press conferences in Spanish. You will need foreign language lessons for that. But at least you can say that you were one of the 9% --- que lastima.

Spamming? Excuse me, but his post seems appropriate for the article. I'd only call it spamming if it didn't address the issues in the article.

The post seems appropriate. Perhaps you're being monotonous by posting similar articles?

Arnold was off playing with toy guns, makeup artists, cigars, Humvees, and who knows what else...
Otherwise known as "working".

A vote for anyone but Arnold is a vote for Busttamente anyway, right? If it was a normal election, maybe, but I'd rather see the democrats at the head of the train when it hits that mountainside called reality anyway. Because if Ca. goes under financially, the FIRST thing the media is going to do is spin it as a Republican administration's mismanagement.

Is this true?
Hold on a minute Mr. Criminal I need to LOAD MY GUN....??
How does this make sense?
I drive around w/ my gun loaded and have never had even the smallest inclination to use it while commenting on someone's driving.
It is for protection not a conversation starter.

I'm sure you're following this? Thanks for the ping. Personally, I don't think a porn magazine's interview of a movie star about his career and the roles he's played is an appropriate thing to use to defend a Republican. The fact that he did the thing with the porn mag is telling in itself. And, anyway, his several pro-gun control comments certainly trumps his porn mag comment about it. Or maybe it just demonstrates that he waffles on the issues. It certainly doesn't impress me as to Schwarzenegger's Republican or conservative credentials. Given that it was in a porn mag, in my mind it hurts them.

No doubt Tom is more conservative than Arnold. Unfortunately, that is exactly why Tom cannot possibly get elected.
The ever-increasing hispanic population (legal and illegal) has proven to vote early and often (ask Bob Dornan). They will vote for Bustamante.
When Reagan ran, the dynamics were very different. Back then, Tom could have been elected.
Compromise is not always pleasant, but I'll take half a loaf over none. And, Bustamante is none.

"Gun controls should be stiffer." --Arnold Schwarzenegger
That is probably taken out of context, or he wasn't asked or allowed to clarify.
Here is the full story:
From the "Sixth Day" press kit...
Arnold: "My biggest complaint with the politicians is that the first thing they do is point the finger at Hollywood, which is moronic because that means that you're saying: I have the answer. Nobody has the answer. Therefore what you have to do is take the ten things that could be wrong in our society that you can never pinpoint. You have to say: Okay, let's just say it's the movies, rock music lyrics, the parents' failure to deal with the kids, the politicians' failure to create after school programs to keep them busy and create the right environment. Let's look at any of these different things, any one of which can apply to the influx of violence in our society and respond to all of them. Therefore, if we in the movie business should pull back, so should the rock and roll music. ***Gun controls should be stiffer,*** parents should start working harder with their kids, have more control over them and spend more time with them rather than going out to work or being on a golf course five hours a day instead of spending three hours helping their kids with their homework."

Guns technically aren't outlawed in NYC or Massachussetts either.
Calling this "against gun control" is one of the biggest distortions Arnold supporters have made since "he promised not to raise taxes."
