IMO, Alan is one of a very small number of persons whose emotions align perfectly with their intellects. When the truth is at stake, passion is appropriate. Unfortunately, this frightens many people. Fighting injustice demands... fighting. And most people don't want to get their hands dirty.
RevelationWe all have to fight against our own indifference to the truth.I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
If the goal is to communicate, then realize that goal, by using the best method to communicate it. If my goal is to tell you that a benevolent dictator is a good thing, and the word dictator bothers you (like it should), then the effort to communicate a message using those two words together gets blocked by your feelings about hearing the word that upset you, and you don't hear past that word(s). If you are upset with the tone, the tone blocks what's trying to be communicated. That's my point.
That said, you're right, I hate the way this world has become a mamby, pamby place, where everything has to be sugar coated to make a point these days.
I hope I've clarified my point adequately, so that you realize I'm on Alan Keyes' side, when I offer my "tone" suggestion.
