I don't get this NIMBY thing... About 5 miles from my house, some guy put up about 50 turbines (including the newest one which is the largest in N. America!) On my drive home, I come up over the crest of a hill, and on the horizon appear these majestic behemoths turning over gracefully in the wind. I'm not an environmentalist, but it's nice to see clean energy being produced in my town; it's nice to know a local businessman is making good, providing jobs and cash inflow to the local economy, and best of all, helping provide small farmers a business model to make money off wind energy.

Perhaps if you were aware that your neighbor was making a nice profit based on income from your tax dollars for his subsidized wind farm, you might start complaining?
