You're right, the issue is about religious items on government property.
Now, since public schools are also government property, why is there a school in New York that allows Muslims to pray but not Chrisitians.

In the example you give, the rights of Christians are not being respected.
I don't like it any more than you do. Rights and freedom aren't faring so well lately in general.
