This is in the form of a "conscience" and as such it goes against even a man's nature to lie, steal, kill, and covet.

I disagree... A mans natural instinct is to sin. Without guidance of God, killing would be considered at worst, assault, at best "justice". Gods commandments are a list of rules to touch a mans heart that otherwise would be filled with barbaric attitudes without knowledge of wrongdoing.
