Ward Connerly speaks in favor of Proposition 54, which is on the October ballot, during a luncheon Wednesday at the Sacramento Press Club.

Ward Connerly and the president of the NAACP's Sacramento branch butted heads Wednesday over the effects of a ballot initiative billed as a step toward creating a colorblind government.

The race nazis need their data so they can sue, and for no other reason.

Connerly said race-based data doesn't prove discrimination by itself and that in no sector of government, or life, is there always a perfect statistical balance between the racial composition of the general population and those involved in specific programs.

Exactly.

Connerly hailed Proposition 54 as a much-needed step toward eliminating government obsession with racial checkboxes that he contends often are unnecessary and divisive.

Ward Connerly is, like Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice, an traitor to his race...a regular Uncle Tom doing the white man's bidding. How else could you possibly explain a black man speaking out against the divisive policies championed by the left? He must have been brainwashed by whitey.

No they don't. Any one who is discriminated against needs to bring proof to the court anyway. The NAACLP's David Luz is an idiot when it comes to law. Any first year law school student will tell you the burden of proof is always on the plaintiff. The defendant simply has to show the party suing has no case. So where the harm to victims here? A moment's careful thought will show you that that virtually every post Brown case of racial discrimination doesn't involve the government. It involves individuals. What we really can't believe is the disgrace of witnessing the NAACLP attacking the American principle of non-discrimination just to keep the racial shakedown industry alive. Its one that deserves to die.

Connerly is one of the Nation's most brilliant thinkers. We should promote him as a presidential or even VP candidate.

I believe Tom Sowell made the point over the years that in no society has there ever perfect racial representation. And for that matter, in life there is no perfect gender balance either. Women have always slightly outnumbered men here and in the rest of the world and no one thinks that's discrimination. The NAACLP and other civil rights groups are pushing for something that is completely unattainable in the real world. But then again the Left has always pushed for Utopia regardless of just how impractical it happens to be.

"I can't believe what I'm hearing out of your mouth," De Luz said. "You're sitting here basically placing the burden on the victim or the person being discriminated against. ..."

YES! The "victim" isn't a victim until proof is presented. The NAACP continues to insist on a presumption of guilt.

I think, perhaps Mr. Connerly is stating his opinion based on good intentions and mostly positive experience... I think he is going a little too far with eliminating the collection of information that may leave legitimately harmed individuals without the information to pursue their case. The thing we have to remember is that he has gone through what he has gone through and we can celebrate his achievements. However, he is not in a position to state that the system which may have protected his rights is no longer needed. I think perhaps, like affirmative action, it needs to be phased out. He also has to remember that he has his position and status. Those coming up simply want a level playing field. If you are all going to tell me that that is the way it is today, perhaps we will have to agree to disagree...

I agree with Ward and his coalition very much. And to the
RPI people, you know the feminazis are opposing the RPI.
So I threw in my two cents (and maybe a few more). It's
time for our Republican Party to take its rightful
directions again and oppose the Democrat kind of racism.

mhking, what do you think? ...the story behind the
following alright? I want your opinion if you have time
to mess with it at all.

If we understand the affirmative action is result of people not playing nicely with one another, then perhaps it may help your case if you establish more trust with the people you are trying to take something from... I don't think keeping statistics is what caused all of the racial issues we have today and therefore, I am not sure if taking away the right of government to collect the information will solve the problem... You may find the basic reason that you will not have as much support as you may expect is because of the long history of minorities being mistreated by the majority... Without some gesture or indication of what laws are available to protect the rights of minorities and address some of their fears(that's right, some people are scared of what will happen to them), you may have trouble selling this initiative.

I think a debate with Mr. Connerly and his supporters as well as his opponents might be in order. We can not get into the Rush Limbaugh and Tom Leykis way of thinking where we think of people based solely on their political philosophy and forget that they are people...

Show me that Mr. Connerly can go out and convince those who don't believe with articulate opposition present and then you have shown me something. Anyone can preach to the choir...

And you know that people are not mistrusting without cause... Address that mistrust... And I think your measure is going to pass... But you see in California a Governor that is most likely going to lose his job because when he hid the info about the deficit...You know it is because...he lost our trust...

I think the question is "Are we trying to make the government or society color bling?" Making society colorblind requires a lot longer than we have had... I think I could handle it but please tell me if most are... The tendency of some(not all) is to think the worst of those who are different... Making government color blind is also admirable but I think Mr. Connerly's well intentioned initiative may be seen as a type of de-regulation... The removal of protections from the government from those who would abuse their position and power within the government checking of that power... With de-regulation not having a good track record recently (no disrespect to the state of PA where I hear it went well), you have to sell this initiative.... I will say again... Mr. Connerly needs to engage the people that may be most affected instead of blaming them for a fear based on a history many want to forget... Bad news... People do not forget...

I want to see a meritocracy but I want to see it come from a movement of people who can ensure that their initiatives are right, legal, and should be passed because it's time has come... Not from someone who does not have to suffer the consequences of his initiative and then he might say "oops!!!"

Let's have a debate between Julian Bond and Ward Connerly and let them state their case and see what happens...
