One question -- if this statue is required in order for Judge Moore to fulfill his constitutional duties to the State of Alabama, why was it purchased with private donations? Why not use taxpayer money?

I have no idea, and it's no concern of mine. If he saved the taxpayers some money, I don't see how that's any big crime.

I'm not a lawyer, but when the supreme court of your state orders a lower court judge to do something, I expect there's one or more laws to back them up.
Hey, don't get me wrong on this. I have no stake in the ground on whether the posting of the 10 commandments causes good or causes harm. But do we *really* want lower court judges to start freely disregarding what the higher courts say. If another Alabama judge started recognising same-sex marriages, wouldn't you want him to toe the line if the higher court told him to stop?
