"How can anybody in there right mind find the Ten Commandments offensive? That is what I am saying"

Huh? That's easy. I'm an atheist, so the first four are right out for me. If I were a Hindu, I'd feel the same way. Some of the others are pretty good advice, but only a couple have made their way into valid laws, the ones against murder and theft. The rest are simply ignored by our laws.

Covetousness? Shoot, that's the foundation of our economic system. Keep up with the Jones's and all that.

Honor your parents? A heckuva good idea, but where are the laws requiring that. With so many elder parents dumped in nursing homes, I don't see that it's honored much by Christians, either.

Adultery? Heck, that's not against the law in hardly any states, and is unenforced in the ones that still have it on the books. Christians violate this one just as much as non-Christians.

But...it's the first four that are a bit frightening, if they are the law of the land. I don't worship any deities, much less the one the Jews and Christians worship. I blaspheme all the time by saying that your deity doesn't even exist.

Sure, I'm offended by the Ten Commandments, when they're placed in the government buildings I must visit.

There are no true atheists, If you are master of your own fate, then you are placing yourself as a god...therefore monotheist...

Why be offened at something that doesn't apply to you?

If there were no God in your mind, why all the fuss?

Your lack of American history is showing. It is because of the belief in God you have the liberties that you enjoy, the laws that were established. Our Government in 1789 was Christian, though through many denominations, all of the Founding Fathers believed in God and it was through this conviction America was born. Nope, not everyone was a believer, yet America is still considered a Christian nation!

So, your being offended is far, far more important than what any others (the majority)?

So, because you are offended - we, the many believers are to tear down anything that offends you? Why should we? By your very effort to get us to do so, you state that our feelings are of no concern to you - only your minority view should be listened to.

We choose between respecting our God and honoring your feelings. I'm afraid you just come in second. Especially since you show no concern for our rights to religious freedom, religious expression. You claim control over all public property? Why you and not us? We too have control over private property - as much as you do.

You choose as a power play to make others jump though hoops to please you. You wish to dictate how we live. Why should we allow you to take control over the lives of other Americans?

You have the freedom to believe what you wish, you have the freedom to go where you wish, and you have the freedom to ignore what you wish, you have the freedom to pray where you wish. You do not have the freedom to take away from others those same rights.
