There is a stereotype that Episcopalians are mostly wealthy whites who are fiscally conservative and socially liberal: such as Gerald R. Ford, Jr., who did veto many Democrat spending proposals in 1975-76 but otherwise gushes over "abortion rights."

Episcopalians then are stereotyped from a financial standpoint as "Protestant Jews," who are also seen as among the well-to-do for the most part.

The stereotype that the liberals expect to prevail is that Episcopals are primarily interested in earning a buck and don't mind seeing some of their profits go into a liberal church so long as the church's "heart" is in the right place. Perhaps these Episcopalins don't read much Scripture and are not much aware of what the Bible teaches too. For them, the church is a social organization designed to foster economic ends.

That's why the denomination was willing to take its chances with the membership and pursue the "gay rights" liberal agenda. They believe such a captive, traditional, and stand-pat church will accept all of the latest liberal ideas.
