I hate this "breaking news", they say something like this, then they leave you hanging, they just go back to their regular programming, not another word.
I think they don't like the color coded threat warnings much anymore, they just tell people to keep alert.
They also said, that the attack in Baghdad may have been a start of a new wave of attacks, including attacks at/from the sea.
I really don't like that part, because the speculation/suspicion/ real info (?) has been an attack using nukes or a dirty bomb from a ship. THIS alert didn't mention anything about that, but there were a number of articles at various times.
I think what is also different, that they didn't say just the East or West coast -- but the entire coast line, so it could be anywhere.
Not very encouraging. I hope they are watching boats, ships and divers.

Actually, I think they release these warnings, because by everyone being alert, and the terrorists knowing it, may in itself deter terror attacks.
I think Ashcroft said a while ago that they foiled over 100 terrorist attacks here and around the world. That's a lot of attacks.
I think we didn't have any attacks not because the terrorists aren't trying, but that so far we've been successful in foiling them.
Also, don't forget that in a few weeks the anniversary of 9-11 is coming up.

Well .. this is just peachy - I'm 11 miles from the Pacific Ocean .. and they tell me the coast isn't safe. Great!

As well off as I am this "breaking news" makes me feel like I am under paid and under pentioned, for if it took the FBI THAT long to come to this obvious conclusion, I would definitely be an asset to the FBI and, if I worked there, I could reape from the trough and retire early!

Well, FOX news, for all its greatness has a tendency to issue "FOX NEWS ALERTS" for every little thing...I guess I have become somewhat numb to them. But at the same token, the threat to our seaports are real, with less than 10% of the cargo reaching American shores is inspected. We have Nuclear detectors at most ajor US ports..But not all! We need to be vigilant, and thanks for sharing!

Cheer up, I am about 2 miles away in LA -- a great target.
But it's a long coastline, so probably the odds of an attack at any one place is not large -- I just hope it's not with something really nasty, as in the big "N" word.
But still not another peep, and nothing on the web news.
On the other hand, the possibility has been there all along -- there are all those ships Al Qaeda has.

I wish you hadn't said that. I read a hypothetical scenario a few months or so ago about some planes flying over the CA beaches, releasing anthrax. The place is full of small planes.
Then they went on with the analysis of how many people get sick and die and it wasn't pretty.
I emphasize it was a HYPOTHETICAL scenario, but it still sounded disturbing.

I would share your concerns too if I was on the coast. Hyothetical's don't kill people, however terrorist attacks do! Between the two I know where I would place MY concerns.
