I brought this up on another thread the other day. Milwaukee's the main place where "bubbler" is used. Not Chicago...you're right on that one. But as I discovered last summer when I met some friends from Australia, they also use the term. Very weird. Check out this link: http://www.linguistlist.org/issues/5/5-1377.html

The term "bubbler" is used in the New England States. It's a water fountain. The term "pop" is used for soda around here "Pittsburgh, Pa"
