Couple staged hate crime; sentenced for fraud

Yup... What an idiot LOL... but I digress - just doing a quick search, I can't believe how many things come up when searching for "Fake Hate Crime" and "Hate Crime Hoax"...

A lesbian claims that a couple of guys drove up beside her as she walked down the street. They jumped out of their car and attacked her, carving Dyke into her forearm (or was it stomach?) as well as other physical things. After the original story it all but vanished.

All the cops needed to do was see how the word "Dyke" was carve, and how deep, e.g. if the word has been smoothly carved (D Y K E) and at a regular depth then 99.99% of the time it is self inflicted. If, OTOH, the word is carved in a very jagged, almost illegable manner and the depth is all over the place then you are looking at a genuine assault.

After all, when someone has grabbed you and is determined to carve you with a knife you're going to squirm, wiggle, struggle, what have you. In short, you're not going to stand still....like you would if you were using the knife on yourself.

Exactly. I saw this article in the chronicle today (it was even on the front page). No examples of the racial slurs and no description of the races. They were black (per the photos shown on another thread).

This is what happens when some people are elevated to "protected classes" status. Crime affects all races. Arson is a serious crime. If a prosecutor wants to pursue vandalism/graffitti charges as well, he can. Tying to the two together to make a bigger case is dangerous. It is also dangerous because "hate crime" legislation does not protect all races. It elevates some to a protected class (some pigs are more equal than others).
