They are both honest men and both misunderestimated.

LOL...Good point. I agree. But on the govenor's race, I've been trying to keep my options open, waiting to see how the campaign develops, and to listen to all three (or four) Republicans. But the Arnold-bashers, in their stridency and rigidity are pushing me more into Arnold's camp.

I have been saying this for weeks now.

I am the most conservative person I know and Arnold is no where near where I would want my candidate to be on any core GOP issue. But, being from NY I also know what it's like to be outnumbered 3 to 2 by the bleeding hearts and sometimes I need to look past my own forest to see the trees.

If I and every other conservative in NY voted with their hearts in 1994, Cuomo would still be governor here and I would be paying taxes on everything including my use of toilet paper (which is sizeable). Pataki is Arnold-lite. I've watched him morph from a tax-cutter to union pawn inside of eight years. But no way I want anyone like Cuomo back at all, regardless of Pataki's stance on issues like abortion.

McClintock is a conservative's conservative, but he has no chance of beating Cruz. I have stated before liberals and apathetics vote on name recognition and religious/racial preferences (think Clinton or Rangel). Arnold has the former and the CA GOP needs to exploit this.

With Arnold as governor CA comes into play for the national party for 2004 and if he gets the state moving in the right direction fiscally, then he can help push someone like McClintock to unseat Boxer. This is where we need Tom, in the US Senate helping to fight the two idiots that represent my state.

CA will always be a blue, baby-killer state. Forget about another Reagan coming out of there because the counter-culture dominates.

CA will survive with Arnold as governor and backing McClintock or Simon will get you Cruz in a heartbeat. What CA conservatives need to focus on is getting rid of the pseudo-socialists like Boxer so the country can get back on the road to recovery.

Although I believe in Arnold, the unexpected can always happen. There are a couple of other candidates that I could support, McClintock and Ubberoth, if Arnold implodes for some reason. So, it doesn't hurt to have them on the ballot at this point as a fail safe.

I will worry about us splitting our votes when I see how the polls are going in a month.

Meanwhile, everyone can put forward their concerns.

Glad you recommended to the new JoinArnold.com website that posting transcripts would be a needed service.

I emailed them that their credit card contribution page had bugs in it.

I'll go drop over there now and see what they've done in the last 14 hours. They do have a message at the top indicating that they are just up and more is coming.

The credit card contribution page hasn't been debugged yet.

Hope it isn't like Saxby Chandless, who never did get his credit card contribution page debugged, and still has a campaign debt to pay off, possibly as a result.

Hope Arnold gets some sharp computer whizzes working on his webpage quick.

I am confused. I went to the site and still no changes. I notice it is by Californians for Schwarzenegger. I did click on the Schwarzenegger.com link and lo and behold there was a lot of news on the economic council, David Dreier being the debate negotiator, etc.etc.

Is joinarnold.com HIS web site, or is it that of a supporting group? It is very confusing.

"Baghdad Bob Mulholland was on "HairBall" with Chris Matthews, too. I've never seen Bad Bob before. From what I've read, he comes across as a vicious partisan hack. In his "debate" with Rep. David Dreier, he came across as a souless, foaming, rude, desperate, lying little creep. I hope Chris Matthews has him on as a regular. He'll do more to build up the Republican Party than anything we can do."

To believe that is to ignore the eight years of the Clinton presidency. Paul Begala and James Carville were as alien to mainstream thinking as they could possibly get, yet, before it was all over, they were the ones with the book contracts, talk shows and $100,000 speaking fees. Not to mention that Bill Clinton is still a hero of the Democrats.

You're probably right. Frankly, Bob Mulholland disturbs me. He a vicious little puke. What would a guy like that do for a living if the Democrat Party ever buys back its soul from the devil?

I agree with you. I'm trying to keep my options open, to watch the campaign develop. But, frankly, the stridency of the Hate-Arnold crowd is a bit concerning to me. And I have to admit that because of their vitriol, I'm leaning in Arnold's direction. But if Arnold implodes, I'll vote for whomever -- McC, Simon, or Ubb. It's amazing to me that the people who so liberally throw around the term "Republican In Name Only" may be unwilling to vote for the leading Republican.

"I'd rather the vitory of some of my policies than the defeat of all of them." -- Abraham Lincoln, explaining why he backed Zachary Taylor for the presidency instead of his hero, Henry Clay.

THAT is why I am for Arnold.

Ubberoth looks much less appealing since I learned a bit about him. He made statements saying the economic conditions in the State are in no way the fault of Gov. Davis. McClintock looks to be my only fallback position at the moment should Arnold implode.

Democrats are promising to open their dirt file on Arnold's past and say "it isn't pretty." I'll stick by him no matter what it shows, but his electability may take a hit we'll have to assess as Davis shovels the manure.

I'm pretty sure www.joinarnold.com is his site, as when I tried to go to schwarzenegger.com the other day, I was rerouted to joinarnold.com

Thanks. I know little about "The Ubb", or as some on FR called him, "UberOff". I'm leaning toward Arnold, but need to hear more. I suspect that Californians are tired of the slime campaigns that Democrats run. This is one reason Davis is radioactive in the state -- he's a dirty campaigner. Arnold has so much good will with the public that whatever dirt they throw may not stick, and may backfire.
