Who's Cruz? INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY
Politics: As the California lieutenant governor and Democratic recall candidate unveiled his economic plan Tuesday, the question surely arose in many minds: Just who is Cruz Bustamante?
Despite a relatively long career in politics that includes a two-year turn as Assembly speaker, Bustamante is the most famous unknown candidate in the race. Though he's been an elected official for more than a decade at the state level, he hasn't left much of a political wake.
But now the Democrats' front-runner in the upcoming gubernatorial recall election is getting attention.
The focus on Bustamante began when he declared his candidacy and vindicated everyone who has called him an opportunist after initially saying he would help his party maintain a unified front and stay out of the race.
The attention intensified Tuesday when Bustamante presented his "Tough Love for California" economic plan to lift the state government from its financial pit.
We wonder who's getting the love, because the name simply seems to be a euphemism for higher taxes. Bustamante's plan calls for a combination of nearly $8 billion in new taxes and fees mostly on businesses and the rich and a mere $4.5 billion in spending cuts or savings.
It should be no surprise that this economic package includes tax hikes and absurdly inadequate spending cuts. Bustamante's record indicates that he has the tax-and-spend reflex.
The plan is consistent with Bustamante's record in the Assembly, where he resisted then-Gov. Pete Wilson's tax cut plans for three straight years. He also opposed Wilson's welfare reform ideas.

In addition to proposing new taxes on businesses and "the rich" to fix CA economic problems Bustamental was a member of MECHA, a Mexican supremicist student group, whom he has never disavowed. Basically they are the Klan with a tan. Their motto is "For The Race everything; for those outside The Race nothing".
Either Cruz or Arnold will be the next governor. Take your pick.

Yes, and the perfectionists will see to it. They are hoping that if Cali completely collapses, then everybody will change their collective mind and magically turn conservaitve.

Rush and most of us "perfectionists" simply want AS to show some conservative tendencies and advocate a no new taxes, fiscally responsible position.

There appears to be very little information available about Cruz, and not that much more available about MEChA.
Here is their manifesto, which seems awfully tight-lipped for a manifesto; it has many practical tips on how to work, but is notably vague on what they're working for.
(I can't help but wonder if the almost unreadable text/background combination is deliberate, to make it as difficult for outsiders to read the document as possible. Try selecting it with your mouse and you should be able to read it).

I'd like to see his birth certificate, myself. There have been rumors before about his birth place. Just curious. ;-)

There's a good chance Gray Davis will still be governor.

I think most of you "perfectionsists" won't be happy if he shows you exactly what you want.
Your mind's already made up, and that's why Cruz will probably end up winning.

Rush and most of us "perfectionists" simply want AS to show some conservative tendencies and advocate a no new taxes, fiscally responsible position. I think he did that yesterday when he was talking about being taxed from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep. Rush is playing clips in the first 1/2 hour of his show. Ahnold S Is starting to SOUND fiscally conservative.
