Hate fliers show up as Colorado Springs weighs condemnation of racism: 'Immigration or invasion?'

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A white supremacist group left fliers on car windshields outside City Hall this week while the City Council was inside figuring out the final wording of a resolution condemning racism and discrimination.

''Immigration or invasion?'' read one of the fliers left by the National Alliance. ''If current trends continue, whites will be a minority in this country within the next 50 years.''

Another called President Bush ''the mother of all race traitors.''

Council member Jerry Heimlicher, whose vehicle received a flier, called the message ''stupid and disgusting.'' He said the National Alliance's actions led to the drafting of the resolution.

''They're cowards,'' he said.

Fliers bearing the group's name have been showing up around Colorado at least since February 2002. Some were left on doorsteps and driveways in Colorado Springs in December.

Earlier this month, the group left fliers in Eagle telling whites not to have sex with blacks in response to the sexual assault case against NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, who is black. He has been accused of rape by a white resort worker.

Authorities have said there is little they can do because the literature is free speech protected under the First Amendment.

The Colorado Springs resolution is not yet final and some of those who attended Tuesday's meeting said it needs work.

''It reminds me of a bumper sticker: 'I'm either for or against apathy,''' said Gerald Trigg, a community activist and former pastor. ''I'd like to hear the sound of your trumpets as to what you believe in - in addition to the rationale of putting some teeth into the 'Thou Shalt Nots.'''

Jesse Brown Jr., pastor of Payne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, said the resolution is a start.

''National Alliance thinks they've got some nice soil to plant their seeds of hate or else they wouldn't be here,'' he said. ''We've got to make sure that they don't have a place to plant the seeds and we need to make sure they don't grow.''

The resolution will be discussed again Monday.

References to "imigration" in the context of invasion are a red herring.

I'm not defending these yahoos, but why is this considered "hate"? Demographic trends indicate that within a few decades, given declining birth rates and ever-increasing immigration rates, whites will become a minority. What's "hateful" about pointing that out?

Frankly, black leaders such as Calypso Louie ("Judaism is a gutter religion") Farrakhan, Je$$e ("Hymietown") Jackson, and {Democrat presidential candidate} Al ("Tawana Brawley") Sharpton have got the market cornered on "hate". Funny how the mainstream media always chooses to ignore that fact.

In California, whites are less than 50% of the population.

The following site has a link to "thematic" maps which show which states are the whitest vs. the most colored. It looks like some states don't seek out or allow people of color in - - - Vermont, with over 90% whites, is one of those states.

I don't know how to show the color-coded map I found at the following link, but think it's interesting to see how some states are not as integrated as others. Vermont, for example is in the less than 5% black category.
