Could be. Jesus' "cross wear" described in the Gospels sounds like it was more refined than carpenter's duds, and he wore that to the Passover service of the Last Supper. Holiday and Sabbath wear would, I assume, be similar.

But I'd far sooner see someone wearing blue jeans coming to church, than not coming to church at all because we harangued them about a dress code.
