I make an effort to wear what anyone who might walk off the street into our church might be wearing. I want them to feel welcome and know we are glad they are there.God bless you for caring.
Have you ever been in, say, an IHOP when the "Sunday best" crowd comes in? People stare at them as if they'd just off-loaded from a ship from Mars. And I know what is going through people's heads, as I've been there: "Just wierd. THAT is not for me."
Far from being the witness that Racebannon preaches, traditions such as the wearing of the "Sunday best" tell the world that you have to dress a certain way and go to a certain place and sing certain songs and know secret handshakes before you can meet God.
Sad.
This whole argument is so completely absurd.
Jesus said Go into all the world and preach the gospel.
Our response become a bunch of navel gazing pew sitters who concern themselves with what is on the outside while the heart is a corrupt tomb. We discount people because they do not look like we think they should look.
How childish and far from the great commission can we be?
