UNITED NATIONS -- U.N. envoy to Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello, said protecting the Iraqi people was his main priority when he took the job.

Vieira de Mello, 55, died when a truck drove into the U.N. headquarters in Baghdad laden with explosives. Although he managed to make a phone call from the ruins of the building, he later died.

But...but...how can this be?!? Don't the "innocent Islamofascists" know that the UN is there to protect them against the evil Americans?! Oh the humanity!!

That's right. The UN needs to take a step back and try to understand why it was targeted and then, in a compassionate manner, try to resolve those issues.

Sergio Vieira de Mello, said protecting the Iraqi people was his main priority...

"Islam is the religeon of peace." The way these people blow each other up, Id' say that "Islam is the religeon of pieces (disconnected body parts)."

Although the UN may see itself as the protector of Islamofascists, islamofascists see the UN as a pro-homosexual, pro-abortion, pro-population control, pagan instutition.

These radical Mohammedans consider everyone who doesn't think (and act) like them as the enemy.

Hell, Muslims whose beards are too short are the enemy to them.

"But when your enemies are attacking each other that's not a bad thing."

Politics should be set aside here; there cannot see any positive spin on such violence against civilians.

This is very unfortunate. De Mello was basically a good guy who would bring international legitimacy to the Interim Governing Council and the constitutional arrangements for the new democratic Iraq to emerge.

I just want to know, where are the Human Shields?

They were sure ready to save sites in Iraq from the evillll U.S. Military, but where are they now? Why are they not flocking to Iraq to stand in front of places with humanitarian interests to protect them from truck bombers????

He was attacked because he was a strong proponent of the interim Governing Council, and thus supported the efforts at building a new democratic constitution. No lover of the US and freedom should feel any comfort from this callous murder.

Nothing to see here! No terrorists in Iraq. Saddam was a peaceful leader and Iraqis, nay the Middle East are our friends, all of them are./ sarcasm I think it would only take a plane flown into the UN building to show the UN what sort of enemy to peace these terrorist are. I don't believe even this will accomplish their eye-opening experience and doubt anything will. Patriot Paradox

Then there must be something wrong with democracy. It's not possibly the fault of the bombers, if that's what you are suggesting.

I wouldn't shed a tear if the UN building in NY were "McVeyed."

And the "McVeyed" occupants of the building?
